Pseudoscorpions are arachnids (aprox. 1/8th inch long) they have 8 legs and are closely related to mites, ticks and spiders. They seize victims with their visible front claws or pincers, called pedipalps. These large pedipalps have a poison gland (however they are not dangerous to humans) which gives them a strong resemblance to true scorpions. Scorpions, however, are always much larger and have a stinger on the end of their abdomens.
Pseudoscorpions are beneficial predators. Prey include minute nematode worms, mites, larvae, other arthropods, and small earthworms.
